Could Joe Nathan Be Out For The Year?
The Twins got some bad news recently when they found out that Joe Nathan tore his UCL. Usually this is an injury that requires Tommy John Surgery to repair, which would of course mean that Nathan would miss the entire season.
That’s a huge blow to Minnesota. Joe Nathan has more saves over the last four seasons than anyone else in major league baseball.
Nathan says that he wants to explore his options before proceeding with the surgery. He wants to rest his arm for a while, then see if he can throw without the tendon.
Does that sound painful to anyone else?
I have to say that I have my doubts about seeing Nathan on the mound this year. As for the future, well, a lot of people successfully come back from Tommy John surgery, but at 35 years old, Joe Nathan isn’t exactly a spring chicken.
It’ll be interesting to see what the Twins decide to do with the closer position.
