The season opener didn’t go smoothly for the Twins as they lost 6-3 to the Los Angeles Angels.
Baker started, pitching 4 2/3rds innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits (including a home run to Mathis), and 3 walks. He struck out 3. I know ERAs don’t mean much this time of year, but he is starting the season with an ERA of 7.71.
At the plate Young was the big hitter for the Twins, going 2 for 4 including a 2 run home run in the second inning to temporarily tie the game. Mauer went 1 for 4, and Morneau went 1 for 3 plus a walk.
Mijares struggled from the bullpen. He came in in the 8th inning, but only got through 2 batters. He gave up back to back home runs to Matsui and Morales.
