Manny hasn’t played much since leaving the Red Sox, but apparently the White Sox want him now. I’ll be honest, I’m a little fuzzy with all of the rules about claiming a player this late in the season, but from the way I understand it, if the White Sox make a claim and the Dodgers release him, the White Sox will have the first shot among the other teams that want to pick him up due to having the worst record among those teams.
Could Manny be enough to lift the White Sox over the Twins?
To be honest, I don’t think so. I think the only way the Twins will fail this season is if they beat themselves. If the Twins keep playing at the level they’re capable of, they should win the division.
If the Twins don’t stay at that level, it won’t matter if the White Sox have Manny or not.
