Is it me, or does it seem like when the Twins are down in late innings they manage to score almost enough runs to make a comeback… but always fall a little short?
That’s what happened last night against the White Sox. The Twins had a big 6-run second inning, but poor pitching by Kevin Slowey and Alex Burnett blew the lead by the top of the 6th. In the bottom of the 9th, the Twins (who were down by 2) tried to mount a comeback.
Of course, they only scored 1 run.
Slowey started the game. He lasted 3 innings, giving up 9 hits and 5 runs with only 2 strike outs. Burnett came in for the 4th inning and got 3 outs, but then in the 5th he gave up 3 more runs on 2 hits and 2 walks.
Crain, Mahay, and Guerrier finished up the game without giving up any additional runs.
Joe Mauer had a big day at the plate, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs. Hardy, Punto, Span, and Young all added their own RBIs as well.

Crap! First we come back, then we blow it!
