Hey Twins Fans!
Some of you might know me from my Minnesota Vikings blog (The Viking Ship), but in case you don’t, my name is Jason, otherwise known around the web as Jazz or The Jazzy One. I’ve been blogging about football for quite some time now, and I decided that maybe it’s time that I give baseball blogging a try.
So… welcome to the Twins Dugout, your new favorite Minnesota Twins blog!
I’ve been a Twins fan for as long as I remember. In fact, I am pretty sure I have earlier memories of rooting for the Twins than I do any other sports team. I remember my dad and my grandpa listening to baseball on the radio when I was a little kid, probably 4 or 5 years old. My grandpa was a big Royals fan, and my dad, who grew up in Minnesota, was a big Twins fan. I very strongly remember watching the Twins win the World Series when I was 8 years old, and of course doing it again when I was 12 years old. Baseball was the first organized sport I tried to play as a kid (boy was I terrible!).
Over the years, basketball, then later football, took it’s place as my #1 sport. Football is still very much the sport that will get my attention first, and pretty much every one who knows me knows me as “that guy who’s way too into the Vikings”, but the Twins are still very important to me.
The big reason I’m starting this blog is so that I have something that keeps me glued to baseball. I’ve been a big Vikings fans for a long time, but when I started blogging it drew me even more into the sport. I started caring more about off-season moves, roster changes, etc. I’m hoping that blogging about baseball and the Twins will do the same for me.
This will be a learning experience for me. To tell you the truth, at the moment I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how to blog about baseball. When it comes to the football blog it comes easy… I can easily watch every game of the season and write about it from a first hand point of view. Obviously that becomes more difficult with baseball. My schedule won’t permit me to watch all 162 games, and even if it would, I don’t live in Minnesota, so I don’t have access to most of those games anyway. I’ll have to get a lot of my information from radio broadcasts, online recaps, and TV highlights. That will be different than what I’m used to. I’m sure I’ll figure out a method, but it might take some toying around with some ideas.
Over all I want to make this a high quality Minnesota Twins blog. I want it to be something that rivals The Viking Ship, which is the most successful blog I’ve ever written by far.
I hope you fans enjoy what I write, and I hope you’ll interact with me along the way. That’s what really makes writing fun!
